Kingship of Christ

Don’t cling to the riches of this world and miss out on the riches of God’s grace. Jesus is a better reward than any of us could ever earn.

If heaven is mere fantasy, there’s no need to give it a second thought. Why worry about some mythical place in the sky? But, if heaven is for real, it demands serious attention.

All of us have had our hand on the cross, heaving it to the place of death, and hoisting Jesus into the air. Jesus died because of all of us. And Jesus died for all of us. No one is automatically saved by Jesus, but everyone can be saved by Jesus because His death is for the world.

What catches attention on earth isn’t necessarily what catches attention in heaven. God is not looking for the work of your hands but the will of your heart

Those who are for Jesus have more in common than their differences. We worship the same God and Father, have received the same Spirit, are united with the same baptism into the same body, and look forward with the same hope.

Jesus was an unexpected king because He was not what people wanted. He was, however, exactly what they needed. In introducing Jesus as the Son of God, Mark skips the first 30 years of Jesus’ life and presents Jesus stepping through the curtains of history and onto the world stage at His baptism and temptation.

When Jesus returned to His hometown, He experienced rejection, being seen as nothing more than a man. We must not let our own familiarity with Jesus rob us of the wonder of Him.

Jesus presented His disciples with a preview of Kingdom glory and the Kingdom Gospel, and left them with a preview of Kingdom gain. 

The One who left His place in glory and was born an unexpected servant-King would die and rise again so that He would receive all the glory, and sit down at the right hand of God.
