Daniel 10:12

“Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”
Daniel 10:12

Sometimes, waiting doesn’t mean weeks and months and years. For Daniel, when he was ordered to go into the lions’ den, there was a brief span of time where he had to wait with the Lord for the problem to be solved. It had to have gone through his mind that the lions could have taken his life, but Daniel remained strong in his faith and waited patiently for whatever outcome the Lord would render.

It isn’t a coincidence that if we go back to the beginning of Daniel’s story, we find him praying and fasting. He wanted his heart to be completely in tune with his Heavenly Father’s heart. Daniel waited on the Lord in those moments too. Daniel wasn’t the same person he was before he went into the den of lions. The Lord let him witness the miraculous thing which only helped to solidify his faith in the king of kings.

Like Daniel, as we wait with God, we will begin to see prayer as our spiritual arms holding us in a tight embrace with our Savior. The enemy wants us to miss this crucial interaction and hopes we become overwhelmed with fear and anxiety as we sit and wonder if our prayers will ever be answered. The truth is God is holding you right now. You are closer to Him in the waiting than you’ve ever been!

Dear God, it’s hard when the waiting goes on and on and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. Please help me trust You more and more with each passing hour, so whether my prayer is answered in the way I hope it is or not, my heart would still sing Your praises and my life would still bring glory to Your holy name.

What is God giving you today as you wait with Him?
