Job 1:1

In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.
Job 1:1

Job literally lost everything, but in the end, he remained faithful and waited with his Maker. Waiting for things to change can be unnerving, but Job found a way to remain connected to God despite all the suffering he had to endure. He feared God before the suffering came, which allowed him to have an anchor in his sea of despair. Even though misery surrounded him, Job made a decision that God cared about him and was a promise-keeper.

It is our human response to cry out for answers. Job’s wife saw all that her husband went through, as well as the pain that came from losing their children. She basically told him to forget God. Yet, Job remained faithful to God despite the unhelpful comments made by both family and friends. God blessed Job abundantly after his time of struggle, doubling what he had before.

Today, we can know God’s blessing through Jesus Christ who suffered and died in our place, paying the perfect price our sins deserve, so that we may have eternal life and relationship with God. Waiting softens our hearts to be willing to consider life from God’s perspective. Waiting allows us to realize it’s all about bringing God glory.

Dear God, please help me slow down and truly understand that You have new things for me to learn every day. Help me wait with purpose and listen and receive all that You have for me. Help me have a Job-sized faith. In the sweet name of Jesus, I pray.

What is God giving you today as you wait with Him?
