1 Samuel 16:13

So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.
1 Samuel 16:13

It would be fifteen years before David became king of Judah, and another seven years before he was anointed king over all of Israel. Those numbers are proof that David was someone who got really good at waiting on God’s timing.

Today, however, we face a big temptation. From technology to food, everything is geared around speed, making it very easy to get frustrated when things take too long. But God designed something very beautiful in the waiting. He wants you to know that when you have to wait, you are not waiting on Him, but with Him. Waiting with God allows you to see more of who He is and who He created you to be.

When Samuel first met David, David was a pre-adolescent somewhere between ten and fifteen years old. He was a shepherd working day and night in the fields taking care of his flock. Samuel told him he would be a king, but he had to wait because God would use the waiting to teach David valuable lessons. Wherever you are and whatever you are waiting for, please know you matter and that God loves you more than anything and He will make your life with Him worth the wait!

Thank You, Lord, for David’s story. Please teach me how You are using this time of waiting to grow me into the person that You created me to be. Please give me the strength and peace to make it all be for You and Your glory.

What is God giving you today as you wait with Him?
