1 Samuel 17:4

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”
1 Samuel 17:4

David’s waiting is filled with wonderful reminders of who God really is. Here David is bringing food to his brothers who were being mocked by the giant Goliath. The Scripture says that all of the soldiers were intimidated by the imposing giant. But since David had been waiting with God, his heart had shifted from fear to faith.

Saul looked at David and said basically there’s no way he could match up to the giant. David said since he had been shepherding his father’s flock whenever a lion or a bear would come to attack the sheep, David was able to wrestle the wild animals and save the sheep. His waiting with God as a shepherd showed David what real faith looks like.

You know how the story with Goliath goes. Against all odds, David slayed the giant, and because he told everyone that God was the reason for his victory, he was able to practice honoring the Lord. Today, wherever you are waiting with God, no matter how overwhelming your circumstances seem, never forget you are a precious child of God and He is going before you to help you be victorious in all your battles!

Thank You, Lord, for Your words that promise me Your love and peace. I ask for Your wisdom to open my eyes and heart to Your will from my life.

What is God giving you today as you wait with Him?
